Exhibition Report
Barnsley
6th/7th November 2004

Our first visit to the Barnsley Exhibition organised by the Barnsley Model Railway Club. Held in the Kingstone School, Broadway, Barnsley.
We were located on the stage with adequate space for our three screens and Cab-It's table of leaflets etc. We were joined by Saddletank with LMS and 60008 (Nathan) as demonstrators.
Matt, his wife and Cameron were sunning themselves on Sydney Harbour this weekend.
(Day jobs are so demanding :) ).

Kingston Regis in OOn9 (Shortly to be retired). Saddletank, LMS and Leviathan1949. Leviathan1949, LMS and 60008. Diorama of a Corn Exchange.

Consistent with exhibitions in schools, a number of rooms were utilised to house all the exhibits, trade stands, demonstrators etc. According to the organisers, attendance was more than 20% up on the previous year. Some excellent layouts on show and a good mix of trade stands. For those into 'OO9' watch out for a new layout from John and Jane Jacobs - Kingston Regis (A layout we have seen a number of times this year) is being retired and a new OO9 layout joins the exhibition circuit in 2005.

LMS finds a layout that has an outside controller (Evil Grin, Hijack imminent). Bring the push pull set nicely into the platform. Run the loco round ready for the return journey. Hagendorf mit Eigenthal in 3.5mm.

Routes on show included Skipton 1920, MidEast, North West England, Bala Hub V4, SeaView, LeHigh Valley, North Arkansas, Highworth and Cannock Chase. Also on show was LMS hijacking the Skipley layout. Rumour has it, she made such a good job of operating the layout, they would like her to join the Skipley Operating Team (See the photos above).

Heath North in 4mm. Picketts Dale and Haighmoor Light Railway in OO9. Skipley in 4mm. Newfield in 7mm.

All in all an excellent weekend. We would like to thank all the UKTS members who turned up to help and demonstrate or simply stopped to chat at the exhibition, to Steve Cornforth (Exhibition Manager) and the Barnsley MRC for the invitation, refreshments and friendly welcome.
