So that Saturday morning is not a rush, Cab-it, Doug and I did the initial setting up on the Friday evening at the Leisure Centre.
Our arrival on Saturday morning was to find that Laurie had been there a while. Final setup and we were off and running. Enough space
for both Dougs and Lauries laptops on the stand with the normal 3 laptops and projectors and the DCC Workshop.
Apart from the early morning pea-soup fog, the weather was excellent all weekend. We were joined over the weekend by numerous UKTS members,
dkightley, LAD491, phill70, ianm42, jackr and numerous youngsters who wanted to have a drive. Laurie had so many he was limiting them
to a 15 minute drive along North West England.
The DCC Workshop is well advertised for this show by the club and attracts a number of interested visitors.
Much discussion about the closure of ZTC some good discussion about the pros and cons of various different systems.
One unfortunate gentleman had chipped a Bachmann 9F only to have the decoder fail on him, replacing the decoder had the same effect.
He brought the loco in on the saturday afternoon and we quickly identified the cause of the problem. There are two capacitors in this
loco, one across the motor brushes and one from the upper brush to the chassis. Because DCC runs at high frequency the capacitor
from the upper brush to the chassis is effectively a short circuit that blows decoders. Removal of the capacitor resolved the problem.
The layouts were excellent with a variety of gauges and scales to suit all tastes. A good selection of traders selling their wares
and tools etc.
One extremely interesting stand was a 4mm model of a Ruston Bucyrus 1260-W dragline. Operated by sitting in a mockup chair with all the controls to hand.
See the Video at the bottom showing the dragline and the operator in his seat.
The photographs on this page and the larger ones they link to are much smaller than the full size originals which are 3072 x 2304

Our thanks to Noel Leaver and the Farnham & District Model Railway Club for the invitation, the refreshments and the location.
