Exhibition Report

Alexandra Palace
29th / 30th March 2008

Our second visit to the Alexandra Palace and Cab-it and I set up the stand in the Great Hall on Friday Afternoon. Given the appalling weather, torrential rain, it was nice to be able to carefully drive the car into the Great Hall, unload, and carefully drive out again. Refreshments were on hand so a nice cup of coffee whilst we set up. Special thanks to westerninvader who provided the photos for this report.

Early start on the Saturday morning, when we were joined by dkightley, easilyconfused + bronwyn, neutronic + micronic and atomicdanny. It was an excellent exhibition overall, good quality layouts, good mix of trade stands, booksellers, dvd vendors and tool sellers all mixed in with demonstrators, societies etc. Our only problem came on Sunday afternoon when the sun came out and shone straight through the Great Hall glass roof and blinded our screens.

Numerous UKTS members visited the stand over the weekend to chat all things train and rail sim plus a large number of the visiting public stopped by for a chat and some for a brief drive. Because of space limitations the DCC Workshop was not in attendance. Micronics attendance on the Saturday was incognito. Underground Ernie was there instead.

On the Dapol stand on the Saturday morning, IXION announced their next N gauge locomotive, a Manor. A pre production model was on display. Also on the Dapol stand a number of new products available later this year.

Bachmann and Hornby both displaying items that will be available later this year and early next year. (Where's the 4CEP??).

Our thanks to the British Railway Modelling magazine for the invitation. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
