Exhibition Report

Brighton Model World
16th - 18th February 2007

Our fifth visit to Brighton Model World and we were joined by a number of UKTS members during the course of the three day exhibition. Doug Kightley, Lad491 (Laurie), callumpresley, atomicdanny, senileus plus others I didn't note down. As this is Brighton Model World and not limited to railways, we demonstrated Flight Sim X, 18 wheels of steel, Ship Sim as well as the old faithful TrainSim. As a result, the piccies in this report reflect a world of modelling not just the Model railways.

From the Model Railway point of view, there were some excellent layouts on display including the modular layout that just proves the point that a number of individuals can each build there own small layout providing they comply with the guidelines for modularity and then join them together to make a very large layout.. Excellent trade support was also evident with everything from ready to run (new and secondhand) to suppliers of raw materials for scratch building. Phoenix Models were also there with their 5 inch gauge kits of a Class 50 and a Class 52. This time the Class 50 had been fitted with a sound system - awesome.

Aside from railway modelling a considerable number of other modelling interests were pesent: slot cars, radio controlled trucks, model aircraft, model helicopters, dolls houses, robowars, radio controlled boats etc etc..
The Daleks were present again, only rather more subdued this year. The radio controlled cars re-enacted 'The Italian Job' 3 minis in a truck, and did a superb job of it.

Our thanks to Tim Steven and the Modelworld Organising Group for the invitation. Yet another first class exhibition and with attendance around 10,500 this year an excellent turn out by visitors. The Park and Ride for exhibitors and visitors at the Brighton Racecourse worked extremely well for all concerned.
