On what promised to be a very cold and snowy weekend, we arrived at the Brighton Centre on Thursday afternoon to set up the two stands.
The main UKTS stand and the DCC Workshop. Fortunately for all concerned the weather didn't turn out too bad at all. The worst morning was
Saturday with minus temperatures and frost to clean off the car. Sunday was the opposite with a pleasant but cold start that eventually
reached about 6 degrees. Located in our usual place in the corner of the foyer, the lights had already been unplugged by the electrician
thus rendering our corner dark enough for good displays but still light enough for visitors to see where they were going.
For those that have never attended Brighton Model World it is a three day event that covers a large number of hobbies of which modelling is a major part.
Robowars, tanks, aeroplanes, boats, trains, cars, lorries, dolls houses, miniatures of all shapes, sizes and descriptions. Some well known names of
yesteryear always crop up with Meccano, Arkitex, Bayko, Micronauts, Trix, Hornby Dublo etc. etc.. to name just a few. The models also cover a vast range
of scales from 1/6th scale down to 1/220th scale thus covering a remarkable range of modelling skills.
Of particular interest to those who have a passion for horse drawn vehicles of the Monarchy, Peter Smith was at the exhibition with part of his collection
of Royal Carriages in 1/24th scale. Models included the Queen Alexandra State Coach, the Irish State Coach and King Edward VII's Town Coach. See line of
photographs immediately below.
We were ably assisted over the weekend by LAD491, callum, RobertM, dkightley, king125, queen125, atomicdanny, easilyconfused, bronwyn,
justin plus others I didn't note down.
There were numerous UKTS members who visited the stand over the weekend to chat all things train and rail sim plus a large number
of the visiting public dropped in for a chat and some for a brief drive or fly.
If you were unfortunate enough not to make it to this show, you missed out on an excellent show.
With the vast amount of space available there is ample opportunity for the organisers to bring together a great number of modellers and modelling skills
under 1 roof in an easily accessible location.
This weekend also saw two totally revised routes on demonstration, Briscard 3.2 now running from Bristol to Carmarthen from Chris Young, now available as
a download to upgrade your exisiting BrisCard installation. Don Hintons Black Country also had a run out on the Sunday. This is a total revamp and
serious upgrade to his Cannock Chase Route. Track rebuilds and improvements, scenery upgrades etc. etc.. For those that missed the show, we will be
demonstrating both routes at the forthcoming Eastleigh Exhibition at the end of the month.

Our thanks to Tim Steven and the Brighton Modelworld Organising Group (MOG) for the invitation, the refreshments and the location.
Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat
and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
Thanks also to Cheltenham Model Centre for the loan of a Hornby Class 60 (with sound) for the DCC Workshop.
