Exhibition Report
Colchester
30/31 October 2004

Our second visit to the Colchester Institute and we were again located in Room 6 off the entrance corridor. A room to ourselves means we do not annoy other exhibitors with the volume of the machines and it means we can set up a small auditorium for visitors to sit down and watch for a while. And sit they do, some for over an hour, some for a briefer period.

The saturday crew - Gary Lee, Jimbinn and Leviathan1949. Setup complete on the saturday morning and we've all gone walkabout. The sunday crew - Lad491, a junior member and Leviathan1949. Sense of humour failure TeeHee.

As always the Colchester exhibition was first rate. Excellent quality layouts - including a 3mm UK layout; an American N gauge layout and a European HO Gauge layout. A good balance of traders was also evident providing new and secondhand locos and stock, electronic gizmos, components, scratchbuilding materials, card kits, brass kits etc.. It all adds up to a quality exhibition.

3 Mills in 3mm (TT Gauge). 3 Mills in 3mm (TT Gauge). Five Ashdown in 4mm. Ulvik in 3.5mm, Scandinavian Layout.

We were joined on the Saturday by Gary Lee and Jimbinn as demonstrators and on the Sunday by Lad491 and a young lad (UKTS member) from one of the visiting layouts. By the time the exhibition opened, Matt, his wife and Cameron were arriving at Tokyo Narita airport en route for Sydney, Australia.

Four Feather Falls American N Gauge layout. Four Feather Falls American N Gauge layout. Four Feather Falls American N Gauge layout. Sellinge in 7mm.

Routes demonstrated included Severn Valley Railway, Cannock Chase, North West England, Thames Mersey, Skipton 1920, West Coastway, MidEast, Talyllyn and Blackpool Tramway. A number of visitors were impressed by Thames Mersey and by the Blackpool Tramway.

Tonbridge West Yard in 4mm. 9F in 7mm. Scatchbuilt static models. Latelee Town.

Our thanks to the members who came along and helped demonstrate and to those who just dropped in for a chat. Thanks to Paul Evans (Exhibition Manager) and the Colchester & District MRC for the invitation and refreshments.

As always, thanks to the modellers, route builders, activity writers etc who make it all possible.
