Exhibition Report

Colchester & District MRC
2nd November 2008

A new venue for the Colchester & District MRC Exhibition and a reduction to a Sunday 1 day exhibition. The venue was fairly large and space available was well managed and well used. We arrived around 8.00am on the morning amidst the hustle and bustle to get set up by 10.00am for doors open to the public. By 9.45am there was a goodly queue formed up at the door.

Weather was a bit weird through the day with sunshine and showers which after the half inch of rain on saturday was a welcome respite. We were ably assisted by Kieran and Dinmore through out the day and with the packing up after the show, thanks for all your help guys.

Limited space meant only the N gauge DCC Workshop was on show but still plenty of interest. Midland Mainline (MSTS) had its first showing and The Big Layout (EARS) also had its first public viewing. Although Great Eastern certainly pulled the locals to the stand as various trains stopped or passed through Marks Tey and Colchester.

The layouts were excellent with a variety of gauges and scales to suit all tastes. A good selection of traders selling their wares and tools etc.

Our thanks to Paul Evans and the Colchester Model Railway Club for the invitation, the refreshments and the location. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
