Our second visit to the Eurotrack Exhibition held in the Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Eastleigh, Hants. Setup is after 7pm on
friday evening, so Cab-It and I with Easilyconfused left the hotel around 7pm to do the initial setup. During the evening RobertM and codrivermike
arrived and later still, King125 and Princess125 and finally Matt around midnight. Weather was cold but no snow.
However, Saturday morning was a different story with a downpour that cleared away by 7.30am. Time to do the final setup and checks.
Sunday was the wettest with rain all day.
Saturday morning saw us joined by Atomicdanny and DDPOTTER in addition to the crew already here. Ten minutes before door opening
to the public the PAT men arrived at the stand and that required everything shutdown. We were fortunate enough to get the stand back
up and running just after doors open. Not so fortunate was that one of the projectors failed with a bulb blown. Fortunately,
Atomicdanny had his large monitor with him and that covered for the lost projector both days. Thanks for that Danny.
We were also visited over the weekend by David Wiseman and Julian.
The DCC Workshop was present at this show with Easilyconfuseds N gauge layout plus the usual loop of OO track round the outside.
Using Lenz and Hornby DCC Controllers plus the occasional use of the Bachmann DC Controller, we kept the visitors interested
in DCC and the need for running in. New locos (Johns Pannier, Matts Tornado) were run in on the DC controller and then chipped.
Another layout operator brought his Bachmann 66/1 in Schenker livery for a test and we chipped that for him.
One of the traders brought a loco to be checked and a visitor had purchased a Bachmann Deltic with sound but wanted the Decoder
reset to factory default. Another visitor had 2 Fleischmann locos he wanted checked out.
Numerous questions about DCC were asked including wiring standards for the layout, how to change an existing DC layout over to
DCC and what sequence to do it.
Our thanks to Ian How and the Solent Model Railway Group for the invitation, the refreshments and the location.
Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat
and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
Special thanks also to the crew who help break down the stand and help load the car at the end.
