Exhibition Report

Keighley
17th / 18th March 2007

We arrived in Keighley at the hotel friday evening around 6.15pm after an horrendous journey. We originally intended to have a meal and then setup that evening. It didn't happen. Laurie had also had a very bad journey taking 8 hours and arriving around 4pm. We had our evening meal and were joined by Doug around 8.50pm. After a coffee it was off to bed for some sleep in the hope that saturday would be better.

We arrived at the Victoria Hall early saturday morning and unloaded the car via a fire exit into a room that was for our exclusive use, behind the canteen area. The club had gone to great lengths to ensure that visitors were directed to the area by large signs. Thanks for that. The exhibition was open to the public from 10 thru 6 on saturday and 10 thru 4.45 on Sunday.
Cab-It took the opportunity on the Saturday afternoon to RIDE THE TRAINS on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. Pictures below and two videos at the bottom of this page. Note the gently falling snow.

We were ably assisted during the weekend by LAD491 (Laurie), Doug Kightley, RobertM, king125, johnmnstl, and morgan2004. Numerous UKTS members also visited the stand over the weekend and a large number of the visiting public dropped in for a chat and some for a brief drive. The DCC Workshop attracted a number of interested visitors including one who wanted a DC loco tested and a mum who had just purchased a Bachmann DCC fitted loco for her son also wanted a test to make sure it worked before taking it home.

The layouts at this exhibition were very good with everything from N gauge to G gauge, something for everyone. A gauge 1 layout on a single 6' by 2' board, essentially a working diorama was very popular.

Our thanks to the Keighley Model Railway Club for the invitation, the refreshments and the location. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
