Exhibition Report

Keighley
15th / 16th March 2008

With a limited number of crew expected over the weekend, Cab-It and I travelled to the Exhibition venue on the Friday afternoon to set up. After which we went to the hotel. Doug arrived around 8.20 and Matt around 10.20. LAD491 was unable to join us this year having not fully recovered from his hernia operation. The weather was much better this year, no snow, and the numbers attending were on a par with 2007.

We arrived at the Victoria Hall early saturday morning to find our stand had been partly dismantled as the member of staff with responsibility for fire safety objected to a door being partially blocked. Apart from the displeasure of having the kit moved around, luckily no damage, it meant that we could NOT run the 3 screens side by side as we had the previous year. We set up the third screen just inside the door with Matt running Rail Simulator demonstrating various routes and driving with the PI Rail Driver. The club had again gone to great lengths to ensure that visitors were directed to the area by large signs. Thanks for that. The exhibition was open to the public from 10 thru 5 both days.

We were ably assisted during the weekend by Doug Kightley, RobertM, terrycunliffe, Ian Macmillan and codrivermike. Numerous UKTS members also visited the stand over the weekend to chat all things train and rail sim plus a large number of the visiting public dropped in for a chat and some for a brief drive. The DCC Workshop attracted a number of interested visitors and showed once again that there are some serious myths and legends that need resolving.

The next two lines of photographs show John and Jane Jacobs winning layout Nettlecombe in OO9 scale, 4mm to the foot on 9mm track.

Although there was a predominance of larger scale layouts at this exhibition, the smaller scales were catered for with N, OO9, OO on show. All good quality layouts and something for everyone.

As always, the photographs on this page and the larger ones they link to are much smaller than the full size originals which are 3072 x 2304 and around 1.2Mb each. If you would like a full size copy then please email our support desk support@uktrainsim.com.

Our thanks to the Keighley Model Railway Club for the invitation, the refreshments and the location. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
