Exhibition Report

Peterborough
18th / 19th October 2008

A brand new show "The National Festival of Railway Modelling" in a brand new venue "EXEC Peterborough" on the site of the East of England Showground. A large and impressive building with plenty of space for the exhibition.
We arrived at the venue Friday afternoon, shortly followed by Doug. Our location, on the back wall between two fire exits was superb. Peter38, one of the marshalls, joined us for a chat before returning to his marshalling duties. With the screens hung on the back wall and the stand setup we tootled back to the hotel for a well earned meal.

Bright and early Saturday morning saw us back at the venue by 8am to finish off the setting up. As the exhibition organisers have their own DCC arrangements, our DCC Workshop was left at home. That didn't stop visitors asking us about DCC though, as several visitors now accustomed to seeing our Workshop at shows, were interested in whether DCC was right for them, how to wire it up etc etc.. With enough space for the three laptops and then some, Doug set his laptop and screen showing World of Subways, Danny had his laptop and screen showing MSTS and Terry had his laptop placed so visitors could "Have a go".

We were ably assisted over the weekend by dkightley, king125, atomicdanny, jennings, drkangel, peter38 plus others I didn't note down. There were numerous UKTS members visited the stand over the weekend to chat all things train and rail sim plus a large number of the visiting public dropped in for a chat and some for a brief drive.
If you didn't make it to this show, you missed out on an excellent show.

With the vast amount of space available, the layouts were first class in most gauges and scales. Plenty of traders selling everything from tiny LEDs to DVDs, to Gauge O kit locos and almost everything in between. Father Christmas was also there in the childrens area reading stories from the big Thomas book. There was also competitions for adults and children to enjoy themselves.

The photographs on this page and the larger ones they link to are much smaller than the full size originals which are 3072 x 2304 and around 1.2Mb each. If you would like a full size copy then please email our support desk support@uktrainsim.com.

Our thanks to British Railway Modelling Magazine Exhibition organisers (Maxine, Gretta and Sam) for the invitation, the refreshments and the location. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
