Another visit to the Cocks Woods Moors Leisure Centre in Kings Heath, Birmingham brings us again to the Redditch MRC
Exhibition. Friday evening setup found us with an enormous amount of space. Rather than leave it empty and cordoned
off we added more tables to the main stand for extra PCs and double the size of the DCC workshop.
A number of UKTS members in attendance as demonstrators and those who came along to chat and learn more.
LAD491, Staxtrax, alanhowat, King125, dougkightley, atomicdanny, partyspritz, RobertM, easilyconfused, bronwyn, westerninvader
to name just some of the attendees.
The double size DCC Workshop stand, with easilyconfuseds new N gauge layout and the original N gauge board plus OO gauge setup,
attracted a large number of visitors discussing and chatting about various problems, controllers, chipping locos, points,
signals etc. with much discussion about how it should OR should not be done.
Another new standalone simulator was also announced this weekend "World of Subways" from TML Studios, retailed by Aerosoft. Initial views
posted on the forums proved very positive. The CD boxed version will be available around 24th October 2008, not too long to wait.
Doug Kightley was running the Microsoft TrainSim2 demo video and demonstrating some reskinning with Ian Macmillans THEBOX. partyspiritz
was demonstrating route building with the recently resurrected and now extended "Gowen to Knowear" route.
A reasonably well balanced exhibition with a good selection of layouts in a variety of scales.
Plenty of variety in traders from DVDs, RTR, model kits and even electronics bits and pieces.
The link below is a short movie taken at the exhibition of easilyconfuseds N gauge layout..
A large file about 35Mb, so you are advised to right click and save as. Then play it
from your own PC.
Our thanks to all the UKTS members who joined us during the exhibition demonstrating and chatting and to the
large number of visitors who dropped by for a chat either trainsim or DCC.
We would like to thank the Redditch MRC for the invitation to the exhibition and for the
refreshments and the warm welcome we received. We hope to see you all again next year.
