Exhibition Report

Ilford & West Essex (Romford)
4th / 5th October 2008

With a proposed change of location at the venue, Cab-It, Doug and I arrived at the venue around 6.30pm on the Friday. After a brief discussion we positioned tables and chairs in a mutually acceptable location and set up the stand.
For the previous two years we had been located on the stage but visitors to the show had indicated an unwillingness to climb the steps on to the stage to see us, so this year we located on the main floor in front of the stage with the screens on the front of the stage. In addition we had an extra table for a couple of laptops for visitors to try their hand at TrainSim, RailSim and World of Subways.

Bright and early Saturday morning, complete with frost (BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!) we arrived at the exhibition and completed the final setting up. With Doug, Laurie and AtomicDanny we were soon up and running. Doug remembered his trainset this time so we had that running as well on the DCC Workshop in addition to the sound equipped 37, Dannys Class 170 and the new Bachmann G2A (SuperD).

Apart from the cold start Saturday morning, the weather seemed to favour us and the exhibition was well attended. Not quite the same on Sunday when it did nothing but rain all day. It didn't deter the hardy and a good number of visitors flowed through over the day.
Additionally this year, aiming at the younger generation, the exhibition was visited on both days by "Jack, the Station cat" in association with a Treasure Hunt for the Children. See photographs.

As always, the Ilford & West Essex exhibition organisers had a good selection of layouts in various gauges and scales and broad spectrum of trade support for the exhibition visitors.

The photographs on this page and the larger ones they link to are much smaller than the full size originals which are 3072 x 2304 and around 1.2Mb each. If you would like a full size copy then please email our support desk support@uktrainsim.com.

Our thanks to Tony Spencer and the Ilford & West Essex Model Railway Club for the invitation, the refreshments and the location. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
