Exhibition Report

Royston
18th November 2006

After an horrendous downpour during the Friday evening before travelling down on the saturday morning, the roads were still very wet and slippery with leaves as autumn takes a firm hold. A steady run from home and we arrived just before 8.00am to set up. partyspiritz (John) arrived just as we were unpacking so the unpack and set up did not take long at all.

Like a lot of school based exhibitions, well spread out over several rooms. We were located down a corridor in one of three rooms, with a very interesting layout. Well signposted and we received a considerable number of visitors, a good percentage of whom already had Trainsim and some were members of the site. One question that popped up many times during the day was "Was the AC Locogroup bid for 89001 successful?". Unfortunately the answer was not available. THE ACLG website still said "WAITING".....

As with most one day exhibitions a lot of thought and effort goes into the choice of layouts and traders to make the exhibition a success. A good selection of layouts in various gauges including the layout we shared our room with. A half inch to the foot scale layout based on narrow gauge practice two foot six gauge using steam and diesel traction based on Portree in the Isle of Skye. See the photographs in the line above this text.

Our thanks to the Royston & District MRC for the invitation, the refreshments and making us welcome. Thanks to John who joined us to help unload / load and demonstrate; to UKTS members who visited us for a chat. See you all again in 2007.
