We took up position in the same venue we had for the Steam Gala, in the Bewdley Buffet Room and were
up and running by 9.30am. With the diesel stock and activities hastily copied from Matts shuttle
to the other two machines ready to run. The weather wasn't very pleasant with very overcast skies
and some heavy downpours during the day. The number of visitors at Bewdley was considerably down
on the Steam Gala despite the fact that numerous trains from Kidderminster were double-headed
dropping the front loco at Bewdley and parking it in Platform 3 for public inspection.
UKTS visitors inlcuded Fodda, asalmon, snowcrashandy, BlueArrowTS, Hymek and Chalkster plus a few others I
neglected to make notes of names (Sorry guys). The Severn Valley Railway Route featured large in our display and
the visitors that came to see us were again in awe of the route. A considerable number of pre-order forms
were taken and one chap handed his cheque to Mike before leaving.
On the Sunday we received a visit from an elderly gentleman who was having trouble installing Pat Dalton's
Skipton 1920. Matt talked him through the install procedure and having made copious notes in his notebook
he went away happily. This chap first caught up with us at the NRM back in March and ventured to say that
he would meet up with us again at future venues.
Overall the weekend wasn't as well attended as the Steam Gala. Not just to the UKTrainSimLive demonstration
but to Bewdley Station. There were a lot fewer people milling about the station and noticeably fewer people
on the trains. Perhaps the appalling weather put them off or perhaps cans on wheels don't have the same
pulling power that steam locomotives have. Despite that, we all had a good weekend.
Thanks to the members for dropping in and visiting us. Thanks also to the general public for their enthusiasm and support. Lastly our thanks to BlueArrowTS and the Severn Railway Railway for inviting us to attend.
