Exhibition Report

Warley
2nd - 3rd December 2006

We arrived 7.30am Saturday on a damp and overcast morning. Quickly unloaded and then off to the car park with the cars. Yes, it is a 10 minute walk from the Car Park back to Hall 1. By which time all the gear has been transported from the loading bay to the stand and ready for settting up. Tables quickly set out, covers on and the gear set up. Up and running by 8.15. More people now arriving so off for a walkabout to link up with some of the other stands.

This exhibition opens at 9.30 for the prepayers, at 10.00 for the pay at the door and closes at 6.00 on saturday and 5.00 on sunday. As always the exhibition is attended by thousands of people, a considerable number of whom come by the stand to chat, to collect a business card, leaflets and a free CD. By the end of the exhibition we didn't have much left of anything. Leaflets, cards, CD's cakes, biscuits had mostly gone. Even the Santa hats proved popular. A special thank you to those who contributed to the cake and biscuit collections.

A large number of UKTS members arrived to help demonstrate over the weekend and to chat things over. Dougkightley, Dinmore (Mike), RobertM (Robert), ahardy (Tony), lumpchase (Tony), terrycunliffe, kieranhardy, mole259, trainlover123 (Paul), johny, 250787 (Matt), King125 (Terry), staxtrax (Clive), Garthion (Dale), Damian2 (Mark) and probably many others whose names I have forgotten already. Thank you all very much for coming along and helping out.

The exhibits at the Warley Exhibition are always top quality. From the full size down to the smallest Z gauge layout, they are there in quantity and quality. It was also very interesting to see some of the top people from some of the manufacturers there. Simon Kohler from Hornby, Zana Ireland from Digitrax, a representative from Lenz on the MacKays stand, a representative from ESU on the South West Digital stand, all there to ensure things go smoothly.

All in all a brilliant exhibition with something for everyone, regardless of scale or gauge or size.
Our thanks to Nick Tilston (Demonstrations Coordinator) and the Warley MRC for the invitation and refreshments. Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
