Probably the most miserable weekend weather we have had all year. Intermittent rain with low temperatures travelling on Friday. Heavy downpours
of rain throught the weekend and travelling home Sunday. Snow, biting wind and freezing temperatures overnight Saturday / Sunday.
Our visit to the Warley MRC show for 2008 was by special request. Based on our usual 2 years on and 1 year off, we should have had our
1 year off this year. We were invited for 2008 based, we understand, on our popularity. Nice to know our efforts are appreciated.
With Doug (dkightley), John (easilyconfused) and Mike (Dinmore) making an early arrival on Saturday, we were soon unloaded and setup
complete with decorations at Cab-its insistence (Hence the Christmas hats, in November).
For content the Warley MRC Exhibition is always very, very good. Excellent choice of layouts in multiple scales and gauges, traders in R-T-R and kits,
plus all the extra traders who are specialists in a particular field or scale, electronics, wheels, tools etc.. For those that didn't make it to the show,
for whatever reason, you unfortunately missed a good show.
Located in Hall 5, as the exhibition was last year, plenty of room to spread out and provide adequate aisle space for the public. One particular layout
that appeared for the first time was the joining together of 3 separate layouts, Ravensbeck via Coverdale (from the Keighley MRC) and the
Rushden Valley Railway to Mill Street (from the Kendal MRC). It measured in at around 90 feet by 20 feet in 7mm, O gauge. Very impressive.
Plenty of variey on the trainsim / railsim front over the weekend. Evesham Branch, North Wales Coast, Midland Mainline, IOW Island Line, all had a good showing
along with all the long standing standards we usually show. We also demo'd Kevin Martins 22xx Collett (superb model, due for release soon) and Verns new
RailSim route - Sulitjelma Railway. One fellow exhibitor was having problems, so brought his PC to the stand for some remedial work to be done.
Other users came along for particular help that had been mentioned on the Support Desk but needed a one on one and a PC to show how to resolve the issues.
We were also joined at various times over the weekend by Terry (King125), Clive (Staxtrax), Paul (Decapod), Mike (Dinmore), John (easilyconfused),
Doug (dkightley) and Paul (Trainlover123). Thanks for all the help guys.
The photographs on this page and the larger ones they link to are much smaller than the full size originals which are 3072 x 2304
and around 1.2Mb each. If you would like a full size copy then please email our support desk support@uktrainsim.com.
Our thanks to Nick Tilston and the Warley Model Railway Club for the invitation, the refreshments and the location.
Our thanks to all those that gave of their time to help us demonstrating, to those who dropped by for a chat
and to the members of the public who visited the exhibition over the weekend.
