Exhibition Report

Warwick - 1st May 2004

The invitation to the Warwick Exhibition came from one of the UKTrainSim users, Mark Miller. This guy has a passion for railways despite his tender years. He has uploaded a number of items to the website and organised this exhibition.
I guess somebody had to be Stand 13, but why did it have to be us? The day started well enough but rapidly deteriorated as time passed. I won't bore you with the details of ALL that went wrong, the individuals know who they are.

All aboard just after opening time. Peter looking somewhat perplexed driving the Container train on NWE. Nicely setup as the visitors start to arrive. Mark (Exhibition Manager) tries his hand at NWE.

As usual at these smaller exhibitions an excellent variety of layouts including the small layout next to the stage where we were located. This was a 3mm finescale layout, currently under construction. Larger layouts included the Naval Dockyard / model railway called Overlord. There was also a street scene and adjacent stand for the bus enthusiast, more Midland Red buses than you could wave a stick at.

Churnet Valley Railway in 2mm. Falworth in 4mm. Echills Wood Railway - BIG stuff!!. Err! Anybody for Midland Red buses.

Considerable interest was generated by the showing of routes new to UKTrainSim, Cannock, NWE, Bala Hub as well as the favourites, MidEast, Paddington Penzance, Talyllyn etc. Many had never seen Train Simulation before and after spending some time watching the possibilities went away in awe.

We were also approached by the club running 'Overlord', Leamington and Warwick MRS, with a view to attending their exhibition in January 2005. We had to tell them that we already had a booking for the weekend in question. They looked disappointed, until we told them that their colleagues had already booked us at a previous exhibition and that we were only waiting for the formal invitation.

We would like thank Mark Miller for the invite to the Warwick Exhibition and the refreshments.

Special thanks to Peter Harvey for his able assistance with the demonstrating.
